Lies About Mitt Romney and Bain Capital

In 1984 Republican Presidential Nominee Mitt Romney co-founded a highly scrutinized investment firm named Bain Capital.  Bain Capital has been unfairly attacked by President Obama's campaign and his supporters.  They say it is a "vulture" company: Bain Capital makes their immense profits by buying companies and then shutting them down. That is false.  While Bain Capital may have recorded some profits while shutting down companies that were destined to fail, 80 percent of the companies they purchased or invested in are profiting businesses today.  10 of those companies made Bain over 70 percent of their profit, some of these companies you may know.  In 1986, Staples opened their first store in Boston, Massachusetts.  Mitt Romney and his partners at Bain saw an investment opportunity in Staples and took the gamble.  Today, Staples employs over 87,000 people.  Another example of Bain induced success include Steel Dynamics, one of the six American Steel Companies.  Mitt Romney's success at Bain Capital has not gone unnoticed by all however, Former President Bill Clinton spoke higly of Romney's business career: " A man who's been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold."  Those are strong words from a highly regarded President.
